In 2011, the PitCCh In Foundation established the Nathan Berhel Scholarship at Vallejo High School to honor the memory of Nathan Berhel, New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia’s cousin and childhood friend, who passed away in June 2004. The PitCCh In Foundation hopes to continue Nathan’s legacy of excellence by supporting the next generation of student athletes from Vallejo on their journey to college.

A two-sport athlete in football and baseball, Nathan played with the biggest heart and toughest attitude as a team leader who supported and encouraged all members of his team to give 110%.” --CC Sabathia

Four student athletes from high schools in the Vallejo City Unified School District will receive a $2,500 scholarship. Students will be evaluated on the strength of the application, recommendation, extracurricular activities and commitment to giving back.

ELIGIBILITY:

Applicants must be a high school senior, student athlete with a minimum 2.5 GPA.

TIMELINE & INSTRUCTIONS:

First, create an account and fill out the applicant information, education information, honors/awards, extracurricular activities, family info, financial info, personal statement (mention PItCCh In Foundation) and essay. Within the application process, request a personal recommendation and upload copies of your high school transcript and FAFSA Student Aid Report. • Application Deadline: May 10, 2023

• Recommendation Deadline: May 17, 2023

• Notification of Selection Results: June 1, 2023

• Funds Disbursed: August 2023
