Thurmon Field
CC spent much of his young life learning the skills and techniques of baseball with the North Vallejo Little League (NVLL) at Thurmon Field. Both he and his mom, Margie, spent countless hours at the field, which also served as a community hub. In early 2000, after visiting the Thurmon Field and seeing his once beloved field in disarray CC and Amber were motivated to renovate the field and promote the love of baseball to a new generation of young boys and girls.
The PitCCh In Foundation undertook a $125,000 field renovation project in partnership with the Good Tidings Foundation. The field took approximately two months to break ground, which included the addition of a state of the art sprinkler system, turf, dugout and scoreboard. Countless hours from volunteers in the community helped to make the renovated field a reality. North Vallejo Little League commemorated the opening of the new Thurmon Field with a special ceremony with over 400 people in attendance. It was a special moment for CC, as he played a key role from the start to Opening Day by providing guidance on all the planning meetings, visiting the progress of the field, and being part of Opening Day. Since the renovation of the field, Little League sign-ups have gone from 55 kids and 3 teams to over 250 kids registered and 16 teams.
The PitCCh In Foundation and Good Tidings Foundation continue to provide regular field maintenance and serve as a resource for NVLL.
